4 Regions of N.J.:
1) Atlantic Coastal Plains *
2) Piedmont

Most of the people in N.J. live in urban areas.
Urban means "of a city".
Most of N.J. is rural. Rural means "of the countryside". Rural areas include farms, villages, and unsettledlands.
2/3 of N.J. is farmland or forest.
Atlantic Coastal Plains cover more than 1/2 of N.J.
Eastern part slopes into the Atlantic Ocean (beaches, marshy wetlands) home to a veriety to plants and animals
Most of the Atlantic Coastal Plains is farmland (the "Garden State")

3. Name 1 feature that is special for each of the four regions of N.J. Atlantic Coastal Plains- covers more than half of our state. Piedmont- there are large cities. Highlands- some rocks glow in the dark! Ridge and Valley- Part of the Appalchian Mountains.
4. Compare and Contrast the Atlantic Coastal Plains and the Ridge and Valley regions.

Bayou- a marshy, slow-moving stream, usually found in the U.S.
Desert- dry area that gets less then ten inches of precipitation each year.
Rain Shadow- the side of a mountain that is usually dry because the precipitation falls on the other side.
